- 1Patient load and unit size5–6 patients on a 32-bed med-surg unit tells a nurse manager the pace in one line.
- 2Leadership with its scopeCharge two shifts a week, six to eight nurses, seven new graduates precepted. Each claim carries its own count.
- 3A quality result the unit ownsTen months without a fall is credited to the committee’s changes, which is both accurate and what a hiring manager wants to hear about.
- 4License and certifications on their own lineEasy to find for a recruiter screening for ACLS, without hunting through the bullets.

What tailoring changed, and why
The posting (also fictional)
Registered Nurse, Cardiac Step-Down, St. Avery Medical Center
Care for cardiac and telemetry patients, lead discharge teaching for patients and families, and take charge shifts. ACLS required.
What changed in Lakeshore General Hospital
- 1Care for 5–6 patients per 12-hour shift on a 32-bed unit, including cardiac, post-op and diabetic patients.
- 2Charge nurse two shifts a week since 2023: assign patients, manage admissions and discharges, and support six to eight nurses.
- 3Precept new graduate nurses; seven have completed orientation with me.
- 4Member of the unit falls committee; after we added hourly rounding and bed-alarm checks, the unit went 10 months without a patient fall in 2024.
Moved cardiac patients to the front of the first bullet and named the charge and discharge work in the posting’s terms. Did not add telemetry or discharge teaching to the bullets: they are in Skills, but nothing on the resume says how much of that work you do. Highlighted words come from the posting. No figure was added that the original did not have.
