Land The One helps you tailor your resume to job postings. This page covers the web app, the mobile apps and the Chrome extension. It explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and how to have it deleted. In short: we keep what the app needs to work for you, we send your text to an AI model only to write what you ask for, and we do not sell your data or show you ads.
What we collect
When you use the app without an account
Your resume, saved jobs and settings stay on your device. Nothing is sent to us until you sign in or use an AI feature, which requires an account.
When you have an account
- Account details: your email address and a password, which is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
- What you put in the app: your resume and its sections, tailored versions, saved jobs and your notes on them, recruiter conversations you save, interview practice sessions and feedback, message drafts, and the profile details you choose to save for filling in applications (such as your name, phone number, city, LinkedIn and work history).
- Credits and purchases: your credit balance, what each credit was spent on, and a record of purchases. Card details go directly to our payment processor; we never see or store them.
- Settings: preferences such as your export layout, font and whether automatic tailoring is on.
- Error reports: when something breaks in the web or mobile app, a technical report of the error, tagged with your account ID but not your email address, so we can fix it. The Chrome extension does not send error reports. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
The Chrome extension
The Land The One extension opens in Chrome’s side panel. It reads page content only when you ask it to, and it does not record your browsing history.
What it reads
- Job postings you grab. When you click to grab a job, the extension reads the text and address of that page so it can save the job and tailor your resume to it.
- Conversations you save. When you click to save a recruiter conversation on a site such as LinkedIn or Indeed, it reads the sender’s name, the subject and up to 4,000 characters of the message.
- The address of the tab you are on. The extension checks it on your device to recognise job pages and show the right view. That check never leaves your device, and the address is not stored or sent to us.
- Application forms you autofill. When you click Autofill, the extension reads the form’s fields to match them, then fills them from your saved profile and can attach your resume.
- Resume files you import. A PDF or Word file you choose is read on your device. Only the text taken from it is kept; the file itself is not uploaded.
What it stores, and where
- Signed out: your resume, saved jobs and settings stay in Chrome’s extension storage on your computer. Nothing is sent to us.
- Signed in: your resume and tailored versions, profile, saved jobs and saved conversations sync to your Land The One account, so they are the same in the web and mobile apps. Your sign-in session is kept in the extension’s storage on your computer.
Where it sends data
- Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, when you are signed in.
- Our AI provider, through our servers, when you use an AI feature such as Tailor or a smart reply. The extension sends the text needed for that request (for example your resume and the job posting) to our server, which forwards it to the AI model listed below. The extension never talks to the AI provider directly.
- Stripe, when you buy credits. Checkout opens on Stripe’s own page in a new tab; the extension never sees your card details.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received by the Land The One Chrome extension will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension does not use Google APIs to access your data. In particular, we use what it collects only to provide its features to you; we do not sell it, transfer it for advertising or to data brokers, or use it to decide creditworthiness or for lending; and no one at Land The One reads it unless you ask us to (for example, in a support request), it is needed for security, or the law requires it.
How we use it
- To provide the app: storing your work, syncing it across your devices, and producing the documents you ask for.
- To run AI features: when you tailor, improve, parse, reply or practice, the relevant text (for example your resume and the job posting) is sent to an AI model to produce the result.
- If you turn on automatic tailoring, we tailor each job you save after turning it on, charge the usual credits, and email you the tailored resume when it is ready. You can turn it off at any time in Settings.
- To send account emails: confirmation, password reset, and the notifications you turn on.
- To process purchases and keep your credit balance accurate.
- To fix errors and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your personal information, share it with employers, or use it for advertising.
Who processes it for us
We use these service providers, each only for the purpose listed:
- Supabase: database, accounts and the server functions that the app and extension call.
- OpenRouter and Google: AI models that write tailored resumes, improvements, replies and interview feedback. Requests go from our servers through OpenRouter to Google’s Gemini models.
- Anthropic: a backup AI provider. If OpenRouter is unavailable, our servers send the same request to Anthropic’s Claude models instead.
- Google Search, via OpenRouter: live job search and interview prep videos. Search terms and the job you are preparing for are used to find results.
- Stripe: payments for credit packs bought on the web, in the mobile apps and in the extension.
- Resend: email delivery. Emails about automatic tailoring include the tailored resume as an attachment.
- Sentry: error reports from the web and mobile apps.
- Netlify and Cloudflare: hosting the web app and this site.
Job search also reads public job listings from company job boards (such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and SmartRecruiters). We do not send them anything about you.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account, so your work is there when you come back. When you delete your account, we delete your data and files from our systems straight away; copies in backups expire on their normal schedule. Stripe, our payment processor, keeps its own record of any payment, as payment law requires. Data the extension keeps on your computer stays there until you clear it or remove the extension.
Your choices and rights
- You can edit or remove anything in the app at any time.
- To delete your account and everything in it, choose Delete account in Settings: in the web app at landtheone.app, in the mobile apps, or in the Chrome extension. It takes effect immediately. If you can’t sign in, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
- To get a copy of your data or correct it, email [email protected] from the address on your account.
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict processing. Contact us and we will help.
Children
Land The One is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email when the change matters.
